Art in Writing is a series of creative writing sessions held in artists’ studios or galleries, where visual art serves as a source of literary inspiration, fostering an artistic dialogue between artists and their viewers.
Who is it for?
Art in Writing welcomes anyone interested in visual art and self-expression through writing — those who wish to explore their imagination, seek inspiration, and experience writing together in a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere, while engaging in a special dialogue with the artist in his most intimate creative space — the studio.
On Tuesday the 25.11.25 at 19:30 Art in Writing will take place at Avi Albers Ben Chamo’s enigmatic studio located in a former Greek Kneipe in Schöneberg.
Avi Albers Ben Chamo is an Israeli painter and musician, developing the language of Kavanism, a new approach representing tension in composition and space. "Kavanism" is a play on the Hebrew words "Kavana" (intention) and "Kivun" (direction).
What to expect
Participants will be invited to explore Ben Chamo’s art through guided writing prompts and creative exercises, share their texts aloud, and engage in an open conversation with the artist about his process, creativity, and the intersection of visual and written expression.
The session, guided in English, welcomes responses in any language and form — whether a short story, poem, scene, or abstract text.
The session will last about two hours, starting at 19:30, and will include tea, light refreshments, and writing materials. Participants are welcome to bring their own favoritewriting tools.
To keep an intimate atmosphere, the group is limited to six participants — early registration is recommended.
Workshop Facilitator: Sivan Shavit, an Israeli singer-songwriter, based in Berlin for the past 15 years, facilitates creative writing workshops in Hebrew or English for international communities. Her collaborations include the Willy Brandt Center, ConAct, and WiB – Wirim Brunnenviertel e.V. Sivan initiated Art in Writing — a series that invites participants into artists’ studios to engage with other art forms and their creators through writing.
The workshop is offered on the principle of Dana (generosity). Contributions are welcome according to your means and appreciation.
Artists and galleries interested in hosting Art in Writing are warmly invited to contact Sivan at artinwriting@gmail.com
